Western Maine Mountains

North of The Sebago Lakes Region is where the Western Maine Mountains begin.  Ski country! Snow mobile trails! Camping! Hiking! Fishing! Forests filled with wildlife!

The White Mountains might be west of us but they really begin in Maine. Some of the best east coast skiing happens right here at places like Shawnee Peak, Sunday River, Mt. Abrams,  Sugarloaf, Saddleback and Big Squaw Mountain. Generations of skiers have also started at smaller hills like Lost Valley and Black Mountain or Carter’s X-C Ski Centers or the hill in back of their own house.

Plenty to do, in the spring, summer and fall, too! The Rangley Lakes Region, Mt.Blue, Bigelow Mountain Preserve, Hiking through Grafton Notch and of course getting Useless in Eustis all come to mind. And you haven’t really seen Fall Foliage until you’ve made a trip to the Western Maine Mountains. So much to explore!
