Saco is located along the north side of the Saco River and has a beautiful shoreline on the Atlantic Ocean. The beach area is a popular tourist destination and is home to Ferry Beach State Park. A large stone breakwater can be found where the river meets the sea at Camp Ellis and you can have some great seafood sitting in the sun at Huots Seafood Restaurant
The downtown area, lined with stately buildings, is bustling with shops and restaurants like the ever popular Kerrymen Pub .For local arts lovers, The Saco Sidewalk Arts Festival happens the last Saturday in June. Mill and factory buildings on the river have gone through a revitalization and are now home to businesses, restaurants and breweries like The Run of The Mill Public House and Brewery.
There are jobs and industries in Saco’s Business Parks and west of Rt.1 and the Maine Turnpike, Saco becomes beautiful fields and farmland with rolling hills and wide open spaces. Saco’s northern areas of Rte.1 are filled with ca lassic Amusement Park, Funtown/Splashtown, Movie Theatres and Bowling Alleys and are also widely known for it’s array of car dealerships.
