Parsonsfield

The Ossipee River flows under a Historic Covered Bridge, just off Rt.160, and then through Parsonsfield and the Village of Steep Falls. It is a nice leisurely paddle by canoe or kayak above the bridge but the river rips through several  sets of rapids as you head toward the village.

Steep Falls village is actually parts of three towns clustered together – Parsonsfield in York County on the south side of the Ossipee River and Porter and South Hiram on the north side of the river.

There’s small ponds nestled between the ridges of the rolling forested hills of the Western Maine Mountains, rivers and streams flowing clear and clean and very affordable homes and land here. Parsonsfield is the north-west corner of York County and sits on the edge of the White Mountains of New Hampshire. This is beautiful country!

I know some great builders out here – The Stacey Brothers – who will build you a stunning hill top home with panoramic vistas you will never grow tired of. They also will give you a tour and sell you some Maine Maple Syrup on Maple Syrup Sunday (fourth Sunday of March) at their Sugar House on Elm Street.
