Limington

There is a rest area on Rt.25 at the Limington Rapids on the Saco River which is a favorite spot for picnics and to watch the kayakers as they surf the cascading waves. The Little Ossipee River also joins the Saco River just below this point and it’s a good flat water spot for a canoe ride. Pequawket Lake (a.k.a Horne Pond) is the largest body of water but Limington is dotted with smaller hidden ponds and recreation  areas. It’s just a short commute to either Greater Portland or Biddeford/Saco and is a great community to live in if you love outdoors recreation. There’s also Limington Harmon Airport – a small regional airstrip in Limington and in autumn there’s some great fall foliage  and great apple picking at Brackett’s Orchard and live music at Doles Orchard.
