This hip town with a picturesque Maine Street is home to Bowdoin College. Harriet Beecher Stow wrote Uncle Tom’s Cabin while living here back in 1851 and 1852. Joshua Chamberlain who defended Little Round Top at Gettysburg during the Civil War with the 20th Maine and was the 32nd Governor of Maine lived here. History happens in Brunswick. Great minds are trained here.
There are shops, restaurants and the downtown area is vibrant and always bustling. The Brunswick Farmers Market is always fresh and exciting. Brunswick is about 30-40 minutes to Portland but has a cultural scene all it’s own. Cooks Corner is the major shopping area and the formal Brunswick Naval Air Station is being revitalized for new business opportunity.
